Stephen Lawlor Beyond the House of Carmen and Figure Paintings @ Oliver Sears Gallery
Stephen and Oliver asked us to frame the canvases for this show recently. They wanted a deep box frame with a neutral colour to compliment the work. We used a 5cm tall box which was gessoed. This give it the appearance that the frame is all one piece. It was the painted with a hand made umber bole. Once the bole had dried we polished it to give it a marble like shine. There was no glass used as Stephen thought it would detract from the texture of his canvas.
